2022 Senior Premiership

The last day of the 2022 WRFL Season witnessed Altona take on the Werribee Districts in both the Reserve and Senior Grand Finals. The day was not to be for our Reserves boys as they fell short to a better side on the day. Districts winning 8.8.56 to 11.4.70.

Following their comrades loss, our Seniors ran out onto Avalon Park and what had emerged as a finals pattern, they started off slowly watching Districts score the first 3 goals of the game. Viking football kicked into gear in the second term, taking over the contest, with some inaccuracy that could’ve cost the boys from lifting the silverware. A SOLID final quarter performance ensured the cup was coming home to Simonds Oval at Grant Reserve. On the final siren the scoreboard read 10.21.81 to 9.4.58 Connor Menadue awarded the Best on Ground with 25 disposals, 2 Goals, 8 Clearances, 6 Tackles and 10 Inside 50’s. He was in great company alongside standout Viking team mates Kelly Pickard, Josh Bench, Ethan Taylor and Taylor Whitford.
